PLACES

I love to travel.  If you've read three words of my blog you probably know that already.  Here are some places that I loved visiting.  This is not an exhaustive list - some places I didn't include because I don't really have any photos that represent that place to me. Some I'll add later when I have more time. These are in no particular order (except maybe Italy because it's my favorite).  It might take a minute for the page to load because of all of the photos.  Yeah.  Sorry about that.

ITALY
The Pantheon. Those columns are deceptively huge.

Classic Colosseum shot.  Everyone who's been to Italy has one.

This is where my friends IRL are screaming, "I knew she'd have to mention gelato."  Because I may or may not have harped on how much of it I ate and how delicious it is.  Before I left Italy I knew enough Italian to order this stuff in every flavor and size and how to flirt enough to get a huge scoop.  I use my talents only for evil.

The Fontana di Trevi (the Trevi Fountain).

Italy by night.  Is there anything better? This was taken near Castel Sant'Angelo.

THE MALDIVES
The beautiful, perfect Maldives.  These are the spa huts but we did stay in one of these on stilts over the water.  We had a nice little shark who swam under us at night.  The weather was gorgeous and the food was amazing. It was wonderful.

This is how we spend every evening - watching this sunset while someone continually brought us drinks.  It was a real struggle.

ENGLAND
The Millenium Wheel or the London Eye from below.

Tower Bridge by night from the Tower of London.  It's not London Bridge like some people think.  London Bridge is far less interesting looking.

Ah, the red phone booth.  Iconic and looks good in a photo.  This one is in Oxford.

One of my favorite things about my beloved England is the beautiful countryside.  This was taken from the Glastonbuy Tor, near the remains of St. Michaels church.

WASHINGTON, D.C.
Every president lived here except one.  Any guesses which one?

Honest Abe.  Standing at the entrance to this monument looking over the reflecting pool and to the Washington Monument was one of my favorite places in D.C.

MEXICO
Chichen Itza, built by the Mayans

On the shore of Mexico.

SCOTLAND
How could I mention Scotland without showing a castle?  This is Edinburgh Castle, the castle in the UK I've visited most.  Because it's awesome.

This is the inside of Rosslyn Chapel, the one in the Da Vinci Code movie.

Scotch Whisky.  Does it get any more Scottish?  Maybe if these Glenfiddich distillers were painted tartan.  (PS: If you're ever in Scotland, tour a distillery. So much fun - even if you don't drink.)

Beautiful Scotland from the Wallace Monument.

I'm pretty sure this is Loch Katrine in the Trossachs but I get the lochs mixed up sometimes - I have so many photos.

THE VATICAN
The ceiling in part of the Vatican Museum.  This goes on for miles.

This is in the courtyard in the Vatican.  I knew what it was when I was there, but I've since forgotten.

St. Peter's Basilica from one of the balconies you can climb up to.  I love going to the top because it's a tight squeeze and the walls start to lean in on you.  Plus, the view of St. Peter's Square and Rome is amazing.

It's the staircase inside the Vatican Museum.

WALES
I love Wales - it's really beautiful.  Also...they have signs in Welsh which is very, very interesting.  See...Y Trallwng means Welshpool.  It's so intuitive.

This is Powis Castle in Powys, Wales.

CANADA
A train into the Canadian Rockies.

A few of the boats in the harbor in Victoria.

THE BAHAMAS
I've been to the Bahamas twice - these pictures are from the first trip so they aren't great quality.  Still, they capture what this place is to me.  I think this was in the square on Nassau Island.

This is the dock side of the resort where we stayed.

PERU
Machu Picchu.  I trekked a long way for this shot.

Some of the Uros women on the reed islands on Lake Titicaca.

On the way to the top of the island of Amantani on Lake Titicaca.

Aguas Calientes.  The whole thing.

ARIZONA
The first time I saw it, I was really taken off guard by how vast and breathtaking the Grand Canyon is.  It is one of my favorite places on Earth.  No photo could do it justice.

I went to other places in Arizona, like Phoenix, but I don't have any great photos of it.  This was so awesome it took all of my camera's attention.  I wish I had photos of Sedona, too.  I was sick the day I went there and a little distracted, but it's also a great place to visit.

CALIFORNIA
The view just off Highway 1 in Northern California.

And I can't mention California without a photo of this.

ALASKA
You can take a cable car up to the top of a hill in Juneau and this is what you see.

I think the Alaskan coastline is stunning.

FLORIDA

I went to the Florida beaches every year of my life at least once until I moved out of my parents house.  I went after that for many years, too.  We were big believers in the beaches of Florida.  This was taken at the San Destin Hilton in Destin, Florida.

This is a vintage photo that I took on my first trip to Disney when I was a teenager.  What a fun trip!  I had even more fun, though, when I went several years later as an adult.

ALABAMA
Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama

Vulcan is the Roman god of fire and forge.  It is also the largest cast iron statue in the world that looks over Birmingham.  Here is his butt.

This is the view of Birmingham from the Vulcan viewing tower.

NORTH CAROLINA

This is the view of North Carolina from Chimney Rock Park.

Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina.

There are many more places I'd love to list but this post has gotten really, really long.  It seems one photo for each place just wasn't enough.  I'll be back periodically to add more places.  Please stop by for a visit if you're in the neighborhood!
