another strange crush

I'm in love.

With a shoe.

About a year or two ago I saw an article about some Italian running shoes that had toes.  It said that they were more comfortable, lightweight and good for your feet because it was like running barefoot (sans the rocks, sticks and pavement ripping your feet to shreds).  I was intrigued.  My feet always hurt, so anything new appeals.  After a bit of online stalking research, I discovered that they were only sold online or in Italy.  I vowed that the next time I was in Rome I'd get a pair.  Then I promptly forgot about them.

Today I was in the mall and I just happened to glance down and I saw a guy (who, incidentally, looked exactly like P Diddy) wearing a pair.  SCORE.  I accosted him and politely begged him to tell me where he got those shoes.  He pointed to a store on the lower level only a few feet away.

I yelled thanks over my shoulder as I ran towards the store.

Went into the store, tried on every style they had, blah blah blah....I'm in love.

WITH A SHOE.  (Two of them, actually, but don't tell them.  They both think they are the one.)

They are all they claim to be.  I love them.  I call them Ray and Jay.

This is the pair I have

I've been wearing them all day and it feels like I don't have on shoes at all.  I'll let you know how the running goes, but the aerobics I did today went well.

Here's the website, in case you're curious:  http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/index.htm

Wow, those are the weirdest looking pair of shoes I've ever seen. I don't know if I could get used to those.

Those are indeed very funky looking shoes and even your excellent verbal description did not prepare me. They do look like they could be very comfortable. Looks like a cross between a shoe and a glove . . . would that make them shoves? :-)

They look so strange.. Don't they feel funny between your toes?

I'd love to try on a pair just for the experience though..

My nephew helped us in our fields last year...in the mud...in these shoes. I spent an hour getting the mud out from between the toes. Yuck! LOL!

Oddly enough this is the second blog post in a week that I've read about these freaky shoes! The other blogger loved them too. Here is her post if you want to have company in your crush: http://zenleaf.amandagignac.com/2011/02/personal-day-c25k-shoes-and-calligraphy.html

The only problem I think I would have with them is that I have long toes. I wonder how they would fit. But I am a barefoot girl so I'm sure that something like this would make me happy (if a bit embarrassed).

You bought those things in England?!! When they catch on and every second person is wearing them, I'll remember where I saw them first - right here!

Very odd looking indeed! I'm personally not a fan of "finger" socks, so not sure I would be a fan of these either. Not sure if they would fit my massive toes!

My uncle is a foot guy, not like a podiatrist, but a shoe maker who has some sort of degree where he is certified to look at people's feet all day and then make them shoes. My grandpa did the same thing. They have their own store. So they sell shoes that are super good for your feet (you know, for normal people who don't need shoes to be handmade for them) and they sell these. In a small town in southwest Indiana. www.grundmanshoes.com
That's my fam. Yeah, we're awesome feet people. Which is funny, b/c Workaholic's feet and mine always hurt too.

I see those where I live all the time. There are worse things you could do than to love a shoe or two.

Brad has these and loves them. I call them his hobbit feet.
I tried and can't get my ugly toes into them. So you'll have to enjoy them without me.

That is awesome! Thanks for coming by my blog, and Jenners thanks for letting Paige know about my post! Paige, I just ran/walked my first 5k in them and they were wonderful (except a little too thin in the soles for the one rocky stretch - I walked that section!). I love them especially when I have to stand around for a long time - my feet don't get nearly as tired in them as in regular shoes!!

These are amazing, like something in a sci-fi movie ;-P

Those shoes are indeed very cool looking but very freaky at the same time! I'm not sure I can handle seeing toes on a shoe. It feels....unnatural...like I'm expecting it to start walking on it's own just by staring at them.

So how do they feel now that you've had them for a while?
