s is for some stats stuff

On my stats page it says that one person searched for “backstreet boys” and got my blog as a return. Um…what? How far did that person have to scroll down to get to my site? I mean until now I’ve never mentioned the backstreet boys. In fact, I don’t think I’ve mentioned backstreet or boys separately. ODD. Now that I’ve mentioned both several times in this paragraph, maybe that one lonely, searching, surfing person will have a friend who also ends here searching in vain for the backstreet boys. Just to be sure, I’ll mention it several more times. Backstreet boys, backstreet boys, backstreet boys. There, I think that’ll just about do it.

Speaking of stats, I’d like to say hello to not only the US and the UK, two countries close to my little heart, but also Canada, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, France and South Africa. Those are apparently the countries where most of my readers live according to the “All Time” tab. I think that’s fascinating. It changes when you click the “Month” tab. Apparently last month the 8th and 9th most frequent visitors were from Moldova and South Korea. I simply love how random that seems – because if you read my blog with any regularity (I’m talking to you Hong Kong, number seven last week) you know I’m a random kinda gal.

Hong Kong

What I do not care about is my audience by browser or operating system. I mean…does anyone who has a blog care about this stuff? Am I missing something? I’d rather they use that space to tell me more about countries. Like the list of countries. Yes.

Just checked my search words for this week... “phrases for cars” made the list. I just do not understand it.

Do you have any strange stats or search words?

I'm going to look. I don't really get weird searches. Maybe it's the word random that leads them here?

Oh LOL - Someone was looking for 'Packages seed'. Very logical, but they would be mightily disappointed!

My best was "Home is...where I poop."

My aunts and uncles would be so proud.

All of my stats are odd. But then again, so am I.

Wrote my S post about SEO because I encountered a weird situation with my own stats.

I looking at what got people to my blog. It is the strangest stuff sometimes ... and it gives me the shivers to imagine who was doing the typing and what they did on my site.

My stats are pretty boring. I pretty much know everyone that visits my blog!

Hee. Backstreet boys. I wonder if that was me.... j/k :)

I wonder who else in Japan reads your blog. It would be awesome if I could meet them, wouldn't you think? You definitely get quite a variety of people coming to your blog though! Means that you're quite an international sensation, don't you agree?

I didn't know you could see those stats either...but I'm always amazed that the comments come from bloggers all over the world (probably from Communal Global). I'm going to go now and write a post about the backstreet boys and then check my stats....when I figure out how to do it.

I am completely mystified by the whole stat thing..I've actually thought about adding some ads to my blog, just to make me feel like a real blogger, but they all want to know my stats and I can't figure out my stats...
sigh.

I never do the stat thing. I just get confused and annoyed and lose focus on what I really want to do, which is write and be entertained while having a sense of community.

I'm surprised to read the Backstreet Boys info. That would be puzzling.

Thanks for an interesting stop this week on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "S".

A+

PS Backstreet boys are ummm... umm... cool?

I only occasionally get really strange search words. I find the stats to be fun to look at -- especially countries. I also like to see if lots of my readers are coming over from their readers, as that means they are regulars, and they were drawn in enough to click over the the site. That is what I love best, I think.

I haven't checked the stats lately, but last time I was disappointed that I did not have any weird search results, even after using the words penis and porn (in totally innocent ways) on my site. It's as if those stat checkers know I'm a boring mom.
