fun stuff and advice

I’ve won two giveaways in my life on other people’s blogs and it’s stuff I really, really like and want to show you. Also, I need some advice about some of it.

First, back in May (yes, I know that was months ago), I got this from Jen at Hamster Central. It’s a bento box set with lots of little extras. You have no idea how much I love stuff like this. NO IDEA.

Here is a close up of the smaller stuff. The boxes are for the food and the smaller containers are for condiments. There’s even a cute little cutlery set! (If ever you need/want to buy me anything, first of all – thank you. Second, this is the kind of stuff I love.)

My question to you is – do you have any good recipes I can use for these for a picnic? Rice dishes are traditional, but any good picnic ideas? I need something that I need condiments for…because I NEED to use those little containers. These have already been on picnics, but I need ideas. Ideas from you. If you’re shy, you can always email me.

Jen also sent me these super cute hamsters. These are the kind of hamster that give her blog its name. I call these Jen and Jason after her and her husband.

The other giveaway was held in July by April at April, Maybe. It was this sweet little San Francisco themed candy tin and heart shaped locket.

Another need for advice: What should I put in the locket? I thought about photos of me and the Bear, but that seems cheesy. Maybe the two doggies? But then Jessie won’t purr for me anymore. Two strangers? Two of you?? I’ve already got a small oval locket with photos of my parents in. I’m at a loss. Any other ideas?

Here’s hoping you can help me!

(PS: All of you people who said you've never had Red Bull - What are you waiting for?  Get one.  Now.  Well, or maybe not...because they are completely addictive and a very expensive habit.  Forget I said anything.  You're not missing anything.  Except total happiness.)

Those Bento boxes are so cute. So cute!
Glad you received everything safely. :) Maybe you could put some words of encouragement? Even if they're just like 'peace' or 'happiness'!

How have I lived this long without bento boxes?

Put pictures of the next places you want to travel to and then you can change them after you make it somewhere!

And I want to steal your bento boxes. We have a cute monster set that Z used for snacks last year!

Those are so cute. My daughter would love those!
And a small price to pay for total happiness, that Red Bull is.

The Bento boxes are A.DOR.A.BLE. Love them to pieces.

I'm with Kristen; I was going to suggest landmarks from places you'd like to go, like maybe a pyramid in Egypt? And don't cheat and put one of the pyramids from Mexico in there, BECAUSE I WILL TOTALLY KNOW and WILL TOTALLY CALL YOU ON IT.

I'm with Katherine and Kristen. I was going to suggest pictures of the two most significant places you have ever visited. The ones which have impacted you most! ...But the places you most *want* to visit is a really good idea!!

Random picnic ideas (cuz I love food):

Roasted veggie/portobello sandwiches with a selection of toppings/condiments such as hummus, sundried tomato pesto and grated parmesan cheese (salt, pepper, hot sauce).

Nachos with assorted toppings.

Sorry, I can't help with a picnic. I don't do picnics...ant phobia, you know. As for that gorgeous locket, perhaps a lock of hair from each of your critters?

Glad you liked the bento boxes and condiments :) I figure anyone who loves doggies and find the hamsters cute would love more cute things. Glad I wasn't wrong!

I don't do picnics because of the ant phobia too but I like to use them to hold lunch for E. Normally they're fruits and veggie sticks and small cut up sandwiches.

As for the locket, how about a tiny drawing or a miniature treasure map? Ok, I don't do well with being imaginative when it comes to jewelry that holds things... Is it big enough to hold a breath mint?

I've missed you, my friend! I reread your last few posts, and I must admit I'm in the "no Red Bull" camp. I have a slightly addictive personality, and I really can't afford to add more caffeine to my Diet Pepsi habit. Apology extended.
As for the locket, what about baby pics of you and the Bear? Not quite so cheesy, but still kinda romantic?
Dunno.
I've been in Chicago so long that the wind swept my mind. Trying to recover its pieces has proven painful.
I'll be back when I'm a little more cogent!

I stole a couple of sips of Red Bull from my hubby once, but I didn't really like it. Really weird taste. Guess I might be the odd one out...
